Director of Software Development & Engineering

About the role

Reporting directly to the Vice President of IT – OneVision Development & Transversal Services, the Director of Software Development & Engineering will lead one of MSC's largest software engineering organizations, supporting critical business domains including Finance, Fleet, Marketing, IoT, and other strategic platforms used across MSC's global operations. This role is responsible for the leadership, performance, and evolution of a global software development organization comprising more than 200 software professionals, including software engineers, architects, technical leads, managers, and offshore development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a global software engineering organization of over 200 professionals, including engineers, architects, technical leads, managers, and offshore teams.
• Accountable for delivery, performance, and continuous evolution of a large portfolio of enterprise applications and digital products across finance, fleet, marketing, IoT, and other strategic domains.
• Drive engineering excellence, software quality, delivery predictability, modernization initiatives, and operational efficiency in a complex, multi‑location environment.
• Collaborate with business and technology executives to define priorities, shape technology roadmaps, allocate resources, and ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives.
• Lead a multi‑layer management structure, develop leadership capabilities, establish scalable governance and delivery frameworks, manage strategic vendors and offshore partners, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in software engineering, development, or technology delivery organizations.
• Proven track record leading large‑scale software development organizations of 200+ professionals, including globally distributed and offshore teams.
• Experience managing complex matrix structures, senior leaders, and multiple concurrent development initiatives across extensive application portfolios.
• Strong background in enterprise software development, engineering governance, architecture, and large‑scale technology delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to drive organizational transformation, delivery improvement, and engineering maturity at scale, as well as manage vendor ecosystems and global delivery models.
