Drama Teacher – Extracurricular (Secondary)

About the role

The school seeks an enthusiastic Drama Teacher to lead its extracurricular programme for secondary students (age 11+). You will inspire creativity, develop acting skills, and build confidence while contributing to the wider performing‑arts offering, including musical productions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality drama lessons following a structured scheme of work.
• Design activities covering creative expression, improvisation, acting techniques and performance skills.
• Foster an inclusive, dynamic learning environment that encourages participation.
• Prepare students for showcases through rehearsals and performance coaching.
• Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, student progress and targets.
• Use school technology to communicate regularly with families and staff.
• Organise, coordinate and supervise drama productions, including script work, casting and rehearsals.
• Collaborate with colleagues and support the school’s musical production programme.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Recognised drama teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching drama to secondary students to a high standard.
• Understanding of voice development and performance techniques.
• Commitment to child‑protection guidelines, diversity and inclusion.
• Willingness to undergo background investigations and reference checks.

Required skills

• Piano accompaniment ability.
