Electrical Engineer - UAV Systems

About the role

CDDSD, a rapidly growing deep-tech startup, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to design and develop the electronic hardware for its C-UAV platforms and own the overall electrical system architecture. You will work in a team responsible for all electrical subsystems needed for real-world drone deployments, including power distribution, charging infrastructure and communication interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical components such as voltage regulators and power distribution for drones
• Create and test electronic circuits and PCBs for flight controllers, sensors and embedded systems
• Develop and code software packages for embedded systems and interfaces
• Integrate and calibrate sensors such as IMUs, GPS, cameras, LiDAR and magnetometers
• Implement communication systems for reliable telemetry and data links
• Test and validate hardware under real-world conditions and environmental stress
• Document designs and coordinate with mechanical and software teams

Required profile

• MSc in Electrical Engineering or a similar field with strong academic records (ETH Zürich or University of Applied Sciences)
• Ability to work autonomously and solve complex technical challenges
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English

Required skills

• Schematic capture and PCB design (Altium, KiCad, Eagle)
• Rapid prototyping and iterative testing
• Familiarity with embedded systems (MCUs, SPI, I2C, UART, CAN)
• Programming in Python and/or C++
• Nice to have: flight controller and avionics stacks (PX4, ArduPilot), EMI/EMC mitigation, multicopter components (ESCs, PDBs) and component sourcing
