Electrical Technician – Magnet Systems

About the role

Proxima Fusion is building the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. As an Electrical Technician you will support R&D activities across the Swiss sites, developing electrical infrastructure and ensuring reliable operation of experiments and prototype equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble control panels, junction boxes and cabinets; wire sensors, heaters and instrumentation.
• Integrate power supplies, acquisition systems and test equipment from an electrical perspective.
• Perform electrical checks, verification and commissioning of experimental setups.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, component failures and other issues affecting experiments.
• Define, upgrade and oversee electrical infrastructure for R&D prototypes and manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure safety and compliance with norms, regulations and internal procedures, and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance.

Required profile

• Training and practical experience as an Electrician, Electrical Technician or equivalent (e.g., Automatiker, Elektroinstallateur EFZ).
• Strong safety mindset with good knowledge of safe electrical working practices and regulations.
• Ability to read and produce electrical diagrams, size cables and protection devices, and perform modifications.
• Adaptable to a fast‑changing R&D environment and comfortable collaborating with engineers, scientists and technicians.
• Valid Swiss driving licence is a plus.

• Electrical wiring and instrumentation wiring.

• Power supply and low‑voltage industrial system handling.
• Electrical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
• Reading and creating electrical diagrams, including Single‑Line Diagrams.
• Cable sizing and protection device selection.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical infrastructure.
• Use of ECAD software for schematic design.
