Electronics Technician – Autonomous Drone Platforms

About the role
Harmattan AI is building autonomous, scalable defense systems and is expanding its Lausanne Engineering Hub. We are looking for an Electronics Technician to own the full hardware validation lifecycle for autonomous drone platforms covering air‑defense, ISR, strike and electronic warfare. You will be responsible for everything from component library creation to bench measurement, system validation and final drone assembly.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and expand the Altium Designer component library, creating symbols, footprints and 3D models.
- Support PCB design reviews and perform hands‑on bring‑up and validation of new board revisions.
- Conduct electrical measurements and functional tests using oscilloscopes, multimeters and power analyzers.
- Assemble and integrate electronics into drone platforms, including precision soldering of micro‑components and advanced surface‑mount packages.
- Write clear technical validation and test reports for each hardware iteration.
- Collaborate daily with Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, Firmware/Software and Procurement teams.
- Mentor junior technicians or interns as the team scales.
Required profile
- Technical diploma (Technician ES, HEIG or equivalent Swiss/European college) in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- 2–3 years of hands‑on experience as an electronics technician, preferably in drone/UAV, avionics, defense or aerospace environments.
- Proven ability to assemble electromechanical platforms and produce structured test documentation.
- Adaptable, autonomous and able to work in a fast‑paced, iterative development environment.
Required skills
- Altium Designer – schematic capture, library management and 3D model integration.
- PCB review and bring‑up expertise.
- Bench diagnostics using oscilloscopes, multimeters and power analyzers.
- Precision soldering of micro‑components (0201, 0402) and advanced packages (QFN, BGA).
- Electrical measurement and functional testing.
- Technical documentation and test report writing.
- Experience with drone or UAV hardware integration.
- Collaboration across hardware, firmware/software and procurement teams.
