Embedded Control Engineer

About the role

Proxima Fusion is developing the hardware for the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. As an Embedded Control Engineer you will design and implement the embedded control platform that drives power electronic converters, ensuring performance, reliability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Define embedded controller architectures for power electronic converters and select suitable microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs.
• Translate power electronics and control requirements into efficient, deterministic real‑time software implementations.
• Develop, test, debug, and validate embedded software on target hardware, from individual blocks to complete controller systems.
• Explore new controller technologies and software concepts to improve performance, flexibility, reliability and maintainability.

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of embedded architectures and selection of controllers for demanding real‑time applications.
• Expertise in embedded software development for real‑time systems, preferably in power electronics or industrial automation, including FPGA programming and hardware interfaces.
• Experience monitoring and debugging software directly on target hardware.
