Emergency Response Secretariat Analyst (P-2) – Geneva

About the role

The Emergency Response Secretariat (EPP) Analyst supports the Global Emergency Response Unit in Geneva, providing substantive assistance for planning, implementation, monitoring and knowledge management of UNFPA emergency procedures. The role is pivotal during activated corporate emergencies, ensuring coordination across HQ, regional and country offices.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate between HQ, regional and country offices for EPP‑activated emergencies, including activation, deactivation and follow‑up of action points.
• Support Crisis Response Team meetings, document proceedings and track implementation of outcomes.
• Develop, refine and disseminate EPP tools, templates and guidelines; monitor adherence to timelines and protocols.
• Lead preparation of After‑Action Reviews, consolidate lessons learned and facilitate corrective actions.
• Collect and analyse emergency response data, producing periodic reports for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in International Relations, Development, Humanitarian Affairs or related field.
• Minimum two years of progressive experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness or field operations, preferably with in‑country office experience.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian response frameworks, including IASC protocols.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic, French or another UN language is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with UN‑specific systems such as Atlas and PeopleSoft.
• Experience in knowledge management, dashboard creation and data analysis.
