Global Category Manager Logistics and Warehousing

About the role

The Global Category Manager Logistics & Warehousing develops and executes global sourcing strategies for logistics, transportation, and warehousing services. Based primarily on site in Basel, the role combines strategic sourcing, supplier management and cost optimisation while supporting cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement global category and sourcing strategies across regions and business units.
• Lead strategic sourcing projects, competitive tenders, supplier negotiations and contract management.
• Build and manage a savings pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and realisation of procurement benefits.
• Act as the global procurement subject‑matter expert, providing market intelligence and strategic guidance.
• Drive supplier selection, onboarding, performance management and governance to improve service quality, resilience and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration or related field.
• Significant experience in category management, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management within logistics, transportation and warehousing.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage complex global projects in a matrix organisation.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in spend analysis, business case development, savings delivery and risk management.

Required skills

• Experience with procurement and sourcing systems such as SAP, Ariba or iCertis.
• Strong negotiation, tendering and commercial contracting capabilities.
• Solid understanding of logistics markets, freight modes, Incoterms and service level agreements.
