Global Category Manager – Logistics & Warehousing (80-100%)

About the role

The Global Category Manager for Logistics & Warehousing will design and execute worldwide sourcing strategies for transportation, logistics and warehousing services. Based primarily on site in Basel, the role collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams to drive cost optimisation, risk mitigation and sustainable performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement global category and sourcing strategies for logistics, transportation and warehousing across regions and business units.
• Lead strategic sourcing projects, competitive tenders, supplier negotiations and contract management to achieve sustainable value.
• Build and manage a savings pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting, tracking and realisation of procurement benefits.
• Act as the global procurement subject‑matter expert, providing market intelligence and strategic guidance.
• Drive supplier selection, onboarding, performance management and governance to improve service quality, resilience and compliance.
• Partner with stakeholders to align category strategies with business needs, sustainability goals and risk mitigation plans.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement, digitalisation and process‑harmonisation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration or a related field.
• Significant experience in category management, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management within logistics, transportation and warehousing.
• Strong negotiation, tendering, commercial contracting and total cost of ownership analysis capabilities.
• Solid understanding of logistics markets, freight modes, warehousing operations, Incoterms and service level agreements.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage complex global projects in a matrix organisation.
