G&O Controller – Global & International Desk

About the role

COFCO International is seeking an experienced G&O Controller to join its global headquarters in Geneva. The role will support and oversee the financial and business performance, governance and control environment of the Grains & Oilseeds international and global desks.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor market developments, pricing and execution activities and provide continuous feedback to senior finance stakeholders.
• Lead a team that prepares and reports daily positions and P&L for 13 international desks, ensuring alignment with trading desks.
• Produce monthly accounting P&L up to Gross Margin level, perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate revenue, cost and accrual recognition.
• Review and challenge daily P&L and position variances, linking results to market movements and escalating where necessary.
• Analyse trading results, operational costs and KPIs to identify risks, opportunities and improvement areas, and present insights to senior management.
• Coordinate international product‑line volume reporting with local controllers and act as the bridge between IFRS and economic P&L.
• Support risk‑management teams, drive continuous‑improvement initiatives and ensure proper documentation of processes and controls.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of experience in commodity trading finance, product control or commodity accounting, preferably in agricultural commodities.
• Strong background in Grains & Oilseeds and deep understanding of physical commodity trading, pricing mechanisms and mark‑to‑market concepts.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to challenge trading results, position movements and valuation methodologies.
• Proven ability to work closely with commercial, trading and risk teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP and other ERP/trading systems.
• Advanced use of financial analysis tools and data‑analytics techniques.
• Solid knowledge of IFRS requirements applicable to commodity trading.
