About the role

Julius Baer is looking for a Head Data Office to lead and continuously evolve the Bank's enterprise-wide data management and governance capabilities. You will ensure data is managed as a strategic asset, supporting trusted decision-making, regulatory compliance, operational excellence and sustainable growth. The role reports directly to the Head Business Architecture & Experience.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the Bank's enterprise data strategy, including the vision, target state and roadmap for data management, governance, quality, lifecycle, records management and accessibility
• Establish data governance standards, policies, controls and operating procedures, and drive data quality management so that critical data is accurate, complete, timely and fit for purpose
• Act as the main interface between business functions (1st line of defence) and CRO functions, Legal & Compliance, Information Security, AI & IT on data governance matters
• Support adoption of data management capabilities such as metadata management, business glossaries, data lineage, data catalogue, reference and master data management, and records management
• Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, risk frameworks and internal control standards, and promote a culture of data ownership and literacy through training and change management
• Lead a high-performing team of data governance and data management professionals

Required profile

• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in data management, data governance, information management, data quality or related fields within global financial institutions
• Deep understanding of private banking or wealth management processes and regulatory requirements
• Proven experience building enterprise data governance frameworks, data quality programs and data management operating models
• People leader with a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams in complex matrix organisations
• Master's degree in Business Administration, Communications or a related field; relevant professional qualifications are an asset

Required skills

• Data governance, metadata management, master data management, data lineage and data lifecycle management
• Knowledge of data protection, record management, data retention and reporting requirements in financial services
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Collaboration platforms such as Webex, Teams or SharePoint
• Excellent English; German and other languages are an advantage
