Head of Hardware R&D

About the role

Boschung Mecatronic AG is seeking a hands‑on Head of Hardware R&D to lead the development of robust, innovative hardware solutions for intelligent surface‑safety infrastructure. You will be responsible for steering the hardware portfolio from concept through industrialisation, working closely with software, product management and industrialisation teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Hardware R&D team, ensuring delivery of high‑quality technical projects.
• Drive innovation by proposing new hardware concepts, architectures and product ideas.
• Identify emerging technology opportunities and translate trends into practical product developments.
• Define and maintain the hardware technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate hardware with sensors, embedded electronics and connectivity solutions.
• Act as a technical champion, providing vision and hands‑on problem solving throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading hardware development teams in an industrial or mechatronic environment.
• Strong track record of delivering hardware products from prototype to mass production.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to align technical decisions with market and business goals.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence multidisciplinary teams.
