Information Analyst Internship

About the role

The International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) is seeking a motivated Information Analyst Intern to support its Judicial Support and Cooperation Section (JSCS). This unpaid, full‑time internship offers hands‑on experience in open‑source research, data management, and analytical support for investigations into serious crimes committed in Syria since 2011.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct contextual open‑source searches to verify incidents and provide background information for criminal investigations.
• Monitor selected open sources for updates relevant to active domestic investigations.
• Assist in analysing records, preparing timelines, and summarising material pertinent to case development.
• Produce weekly monitoring reports on political and judicial developments.
• Enter and review metadata for collected evidence and support data‑entry tasks.
• Provide informal translations and summaries of relevant Arabic documents.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recent graduate of a university program related to international law, political science, human rights, or a comparable field.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Excellent written communication in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
