Information Systems Assistant / Web Developer (Temporary)

About the role

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is seeking a temporary Information Systems Assistant/Web Developer to join its Communications and External Relations Section in Geneva. Reporting to the Chief of Section, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of web applications and sites supporting UNCTAD’s trade and development mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, debug and implement new web application modules and functionalities following UN IT standards.
• Install and monitor web applications, manage version control, and ensure optimal performance.
• Create, maintain, and enhance Drupal‑based content management systems.
• Produce training materials and deliver technical presentations to users.
• Collaborate with diverse UN units to gather requirements, draft specifications, and coordinate project delivery.
• Optimize user experience for websites and intranet portals, making navigation intuitive.
• Stay updated on emerging web technologies, conduct benchmarking, and propose new tools.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and perform other duties as assigned.
