Internship - Agentic Software Engineering

About the role

D ONE helps companies make sense of their data and generate value from it. This internship in Zurich is about agentic coding tools that change how software is written. You will work independently on a topic in this area, building real software with these tools, studying what works and working alongside senior D ONE consultants. It is a fixed-term contract of typically 3 months at 80-100%, open to students (Bachelor, Master or PhD).

Key responsibilities

• Build software with agentic coding tools and note where they help and where they get in the way.
• Research the topic across academic literature, vendor documentation and practitioner sources.
• Compare tools and working styles on realistic engineering tasks.
• Work with senior consultants to capture their practical experience.
• Document your work and present it to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD programme in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, Engineering, Mathematics or a comparable field.
• Interest in at least one industry domain and curiosity about how data creates value in it.
• Experience working with large data sets and databases.
• Excellent English; German is a strong plus.
• Preferred: practical experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Zed or OpenCode, and comfort navigating codebases you did not write.

• Knowledge of relevant technologies and programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, Git, Spark, cloud platforms)
• Reading, research and writing skills
