Internship – Digital Trade Facilitation for Green Transition

About the role

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is offering a six‑month internship in Geneva, supporting the Economic Cooperation and Trade Division’s Cooperation and Partnerships Section. The intern will work on the UN Development Account project “Leveraging trade for a just and green transition” in Central Asia, Southern Caucasus and the Western Balkans.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing analytical studies on sustainable and digital trade facilitation in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
• Conduct desk research, collect data and support interviews with trade stakeholders.
• Prepare country‑specific policy recommendations, presentations, briefing notes and communication materials.
• Provide research assistance on digital connectivity and trade facilitation, including speaking notes and concept notes.
• Support general communications and outreach, including social‑media content.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s programme, or holder of a university degree.
• Academic background in international relations, international law, economics or related fields.
• Strong interest in UN work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to engage respectfully with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
