About the role

Backbone Ventures is seeking a Junior Venture Capital Generalist to join its growing team across Zurich and Germany. This entry‑level position offers immediate exposure to the full investment cycle, allowing you to shape deals from day one while contributing to the firm’s internal AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Stress‑test business models and perform initial due‑diligence on prospective investments.
• Engage directly with founders on calls and meetings to assess opportunity fit.
• Develop and maintain outreach automation tools to source new deals.
• Support the investment team throughout sourcing, evaluation, and portfolio monitoring.
• Drive Backbone Ventures’ AI agenda by researching and proposing relevant technologies.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for evaluating early‑stage businesses.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort speaking with founders.
• Interest in artificial intelligence and its application in venture investing.
• Ambition to grow into a principal or partner role over time.
