About the role

The Swiss School for International Relations seeks an experienced academic and compliance professional to join its Faculty of Law and International Relations as a Lecturer in Sanctions Compliance. The role involves teaching undergraduate students in Geneva during the Autumn 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lectures and seminars on sanctions compliance, export controls, and trade compliance.
  • Create course materials, assessments, case studies, and practical exercises reflecting current international regulations.
  • Teach the legal and regulatory frameworks of the United Nations, Switzerland (SECO), the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States (OFAC).
  • Introduce students to sanctions screening, customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, risk assessment, and internal compliance programmes.
  • Use real‑world enforcement actions and case studies to link theory with professional practice.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the compliance and international business curriculum.

Required profile

  • PhD in Law, International Law, Compliance, Finance, Business Administration, Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong academic and/or professional experience in sanctions compliance, financial crime compliance, international trade compliance, or regulatory affairs.
  • Previous university teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Practical experience in a financial institution, multinational corporation, international organisation, consulting firm, or regulatory authority is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent command of English (native or near‑native proficiency).
  • Swiss or EU citizenship, or a valid Swiss work permit at the time of application.
