Legal Counsel – Global Trade

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join our global legal team and provide strategic legal support for international trade across our Agribusiness Value Chains. Based in Rotterdam, you will act as a key partner, helping the business navigate complex trade regulations and contribute to its strategic success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general and strategic legal counsel on all global trade matters, identifying and mitigating legal risks.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial documents such as sale and purchase contracts, letters of indemnity, guarantees, novations, assignments, and warehousing agreements.
• Manage commercial disputes, litigation, and arbitrations, coordinating with external counsel and monitoring legal fees.
• Collaborate with global Agribusiness Value Chains, regional teams, and other legal departments to ensure a unified approach to trade issues.
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting trade and agribusiness, advising on compliance, due diligence, credit, and risk management.
• Develop and deliver internal training on global trade legal topics.
• Support the use of legal technology tools (e.g., DocuSign, Tracker) and contribute to efficient legal operations.
• Prepare management reports on litigation, projects, and costs.
• Oversee relationships with external law firms, including budgeting and cost control.

Required profile

• UK‑qualified solicitor or comparable qualification with English/common‑law experience.
• Proven experience in international trade, commercial contracts, and dispute management.
• Strong understanding of agribusiness value chains and related regulatory environments.
