Library Associate – Digital Collections & Outreach

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is looking for a Library Associate to support its Library and Archives in Geneva. Working under the supervision of ICRC librarians, you will help manage unique collections on humanitarian law, digitise materials and assist researchers and staff in accessing resources.

Key responsibilities

• Describe and index documents in the library management system.
• Support digitisation projects, including quality control and metadata enrichment.
• Promote newly digitised materials through internal communications and outreach.
• Respond to research and inter‑library loan requests.
• Assist patrons at the reference desk (1‑2 shifts per week, Monday‑Friday).
• Train colleagues and external researchers on library tools and resources.

Required profile

• University degree (higher education institution).
• 1‑2 years of relevant experience or internships.
• Strong interest in managing library collections in a digital environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English and French (minimum C1).
• Commitment to high‑quality service and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with online research and collections‑management tools.
