About the role

The School of Engineering at HES-SO Valais-Wallis seeks a dynamic Professor of Food Chemistry to join its faculty. The position is 80‑100% and focuses on integrating food chemistry with digital innovation, preparing students for modern challenges in the food sector.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in food chemistry, analytical methods, and data‑driven approaches.
• Develop and lead an externally funded research program that combines food chemistry, data science, and digital applications.
• Collaborate with industry partners to embed real‑world challenges into curricula and applied research projects.
• Mentor students and junior staff, fostering a culture of digital thinking within traditional food science disciplines.

Required profile

• PhD in Food Chemistry, Analytical Food Science or a closely related field.
• Strong interest or expertise in Data Science or Digital Sciences.
• Experience in analytical laboratories and data analysis, with familiarity of sensor or process analytical technologies considered a plus.
• Passion for teaching in applied, practice‑oriented environments.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluent English; French proficiency desirable, German a plus.
