Migration and Human Rights Intern

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a motivated intern to support its work on migration and human rights. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a human‑rights‑based approach to migration governance in an international setting.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse thematic, regional and policy developments related to migration and human rights.
• Draft and summarise reports, briefing notes, background papers, talking points and meeting notes.
• Support the preparation of OHCHR inputs for migration‑related processes, including the Human Rights Council, General Assembly and the Global Compact for Migration.
• Assist in organising and servicing meetings, workshops, consultations and events, including documentation preparation.
• Contribute to communication, advocacy and outreach activities on migration and human rights.
• Help maintain web content, information management systems and knowledge‑sharing platforms.
• Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme (Law, International Relations, Political Science, Development or related field) OR be in the final year of a bachelor’s programme in the same fields.
• Strong ability to collect, synthesize and analyse information from diverse sources.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage.
• Good organisational and coordination skills to manage a heavy workload and meet tight deadlines.
