Outreach / Social Media Intern

About the role

The United Nations Information Service in Geneva is seeking an Outreach/Social Media Intern to support the Press and External Relations Section. This unpaid, six‑month internship will involve planning the Graduate Study Programme, creating social media content, and monitoring media coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and evaluating the 65th Graduate Study Programme, including participant selection, correspondence, and preparation of documents using Word, Excel, PDF, Canva, PowerPoint and Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Create and schedule social media content for @UNGeneva across platforms, and analyse performance metrics.
• Conduct daily media monitoring of Swiss newspapers in French, German, Italian and English.
• Attend bi‑weekly press briefings and major UN events such as Human Rights Council sessions.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Strong interest in communications, outreach, event organization or social media management.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and French; additional languages (German, Italian or other UN languages) are a plus.
