PhD or MD PhD in Human Skin Immunology

About the role

The Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, is offering a PhD or MD PhD position in human skin immunology in Bern, Switzerland. The project combines human immunology, transcriptomics, metabolomics and advanced ex vivo human skin models, within an interdisciplinary environment supported by senior scientists and clinicians.

Key responsibilities

• Work on human skin immunology using state-of-the-art experimental approaches such as isolation and functional characterization of human memory T-cell subsets, multi-parameter flow cytometry and FACS, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and RNA interference, Seahorse metabolic phenotyping, bulk, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, human skin explant cultures, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry, and bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic datasets.
• Collaborate closely with and be supported by senior scientists and clinicians.
• Supervise Master's students and present research at national and international conferences.

Required profile

• Degree in natural sciences (MSc) acceptable for matriculation at a Swiss university.
• Fluency in English, oral and written.
• Dedication to science and academia, academic excellence and a professional work attitude.
• Proactive, self-driven and highly motivated.

Required skills

• Theoretical and practical skills in immunology, molecular and cellular biology.
