Plant Engineer – Black Utilities & Infrastructure

About the role

Techfirm Engineering is seeking a Plant Engineer specialized in Black Utilities and infrastructure to support manufacturing operations in the German‑speaking region of Switzerland. You will ensure the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of critical utility systems while working closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all utility‑related issues to guarantee business continuity.
• Maintain and optimise industrial wastewater, sanitary wastewater, potable water, fire water, heating/thermal distribution, compressed air and industrial gases systems.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert for assigned utility networks and collaborate with system owners, maintenance, engineering and operations.
• Lead or support utility improvement projects, CAPEX initiatives and lifecycle‑management programmes.
• Conduct root‑cause investigations, implement corrective actions and develop maintenance strategies.
• Ensure compliance with site standards, regulatory requirements and GMP guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in utilities, facility, plant or infrastructure engineering.
• Background in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, food or other highly regulated industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of Black Utilities systems and industrial infrastructure.
• Familiarity with GMP environments is a strong advantage.
• Excellent German language skills (mandatory).
• Hands‑on, pragmatic and solution‑oriented mindset with the ability to work autonomously and across departments.
