Principal Design Engineer – Mechanical Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Design Engineer to lead the development of mechanical equipment for industrial carbon capture solutions. The role combines technical leadership, product design, and hands‑on prototype validation to deliver robust, scalable equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the industrialisation of mechanical components and systems, turning concepts into reliable products.
• Lead product design using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and create integrated system layouts, component assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, mentor junior engineers and manage external design resources.
• Ensure technical correctness of specifications, drawings, bills of materials and compliance with internal and industrial standards.
• Own approval of technical documentation and lead design‑review presentations.
• Define, fabricate and test validation units, translating test results into product improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of experience designing mechanical components for industrial machinery.
• Expertise in metal and sheet‑metal design, DFMA, material selection and regulatory compliance.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving mindset and excellent organisational skills.
• Fluent English communication and ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
