Principal Engineer - Classical Cryptography & Architecture

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to own the classical cryptography architecture of our post‑quantum hardware acceleration products, targeting hardware security modules and network‑appliance applications. The role is based onsite in Geneva and works closely with the PQC architecture leadership to define hybrid classical/post‑quantum schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the architecture for symmetric ciphers (AES/GCM and beyond), hash functions (SHA‑2, SHA‑3, HMAC/KDF), RSA/ECC offload, and true random number generation (SP 800‑90A/B/C).
• Design hybrid classical/post‑quantum key‑establishment, dual‑signature, and composite certificate schemes and crypto‑agility mechanisms for seamless migration.
• Guide RTL and software engineers, evaluate third‑party IP, and support FIPS 140‑3 and CAVP certification of the classical algorithm suite.
• Own key‑management and key‑hierarchy architecture ensuring interoperability with existing HSM, TLS and IPsec ecosystems.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Cryptography, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least twelve years of experience designing and implementing classical cryptographic subsystems in hardware, software or both, with certification experience (FIPS 140‑3, CAVP, Common Criteria).
• Working knowledge of NIST post‑quantum algorithms (ML‑KEM, ML‑DSA, SLH‑DSA) and ability to architect hybrid schemes.
• Fluency in English; French or German is a plus.

• NIST PQC standards (ML‑KEM, ML‑DSA, SLH‑DSA).
• Key‑management and key‑hierarchy architecture for HSM, TLS, IPsec, PKI environments.
