Process Automation Engineer (Java/Spring Boot)

About the role

We are looking for a Process Automation Engineer with strong Java and Spring Boot expertise to design and implement executable workflows using BPMN, CMMN and DMN on engines such as Camunda, Flowable or UiPath Maestro. You will work closely with business and IT stakeholders to turn complex processes into robust, scalable automation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Model executable workflows in BPMN 2.0, CMMN and DMN and deploy them on a process engine.
• Develop clean, well‑tested Java/Spring Boot services that execute as service tasks within the workflows.
• Integrate services via REST APIs and message‑based communication, ensuring performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define reusable automation building blocks and maintain platform quality.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science or equivalent apprenticeship.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in Java development.
• Strong analytical mindset, agile way of working and excellent communication skills in English and German (C1).
• Willingness to travel for project work.

• RESTful services, JSON/XML, SQL, JPA, ORM.
• Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Kustomize, Octopus).
• OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect.
• Workflow engines: Camunda, Flowable, UiPath Maestro.
• Process modelling notations: BPMN 2.0, CMMN, DMN.
