Purchasing Manager – Switzerland (Permanent)

About the role

We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to lead all site‑wide procurement activities at our Mendrisio plant in the Italian‑speaking part of Switzerland. The role is responsible for both production‑related and non‑production purchases, handling a monthly spend of CHF 400,000‑600,000, and reports to the Site Director while working closely with the Group Purchasing Director.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the site’s procurement strategy in line with Group guidelines.
• Manage all procurement operations, including raw materials, subcontracting, capital expenditures, and overhead costs.
• Analyse supplier markets, identify new sourcing opportunities and negotiate commercial terms such as price, lead times, quality and payment conditions.
• Monitor contracts, maintain the supplier panel and mitigate supply risks.
• Optimise costs and working capital by managing inventory, supplier lead times and payment terms.
• Lead and develop the purchasing team.
• Track procurement performance metrics and propose corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with production, planning, R&D and logistics functions.
• Develop synergies with the BORFLEX® Group and support make‑or‑buy decisions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering with a focus on industrial purchasing.
• Proven experience in industrial and production procurement, preferably in an international environment.
• Strong understanding of supply‑chain challenges, inventory management, working capital and operational performance.
• Ability to thrive in a multicultural, group‑wide setting.
• Fluency in Italian and professional‑level English.
