R&D Senior Engineer – UPS Validation & Customization

About the role

As an R&D Senior Engineer at ABB in Quartino, you will lead technical validation and customization of OEM low‑voltage Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) for mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead validation and customization of single‑phase and three‑phase low‑voltage UPS, batteries and accessories.
• Manage test partners (UL, Intertek, Dekra, Eurofins, etc.) to plan and execute compliance test programs against IEC and UL standards.
• Maintain product specifications, support business case development, and drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions from qualification testing and field issues.
• Collaborate with ABB’s research centre and other stakeholders to monitor emerging UPS technologies.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience with power electronic systems and laboratory measurement equipment.
• Familiarity with product regulations, IEC and UL standards, and working with external certification bodies.
• Experience in engineering change notifications, BOM management, and documentation systems.
• Fluent English, both spoken and written.
