About the role
The NCCR CLIM+ Scientific Collaborator for Science Integration supports interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple work packages, disciplines, and research teams. Based primarily at the University of Bern’s Management Center and secondarily at Eawag in Dübendorf, the role bridges academic fields to advance climate‑extreme research and societal resilience.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and harmonise “boundary concepts” (e.g., extreme events, risk, resilience) and produce a joint glossary.
- Develop a joint conceptual framework that captures the multidimensional nature of societal transformations toward resilience.
- Design and facilitate integrative formats such as meetings, training schools, workshops, retreats, and the Young Scholars Forum.
- Coordinate with principal investigators, post‑docs, and PhD candidates across the consortium.
- Conduct site visits to partner institutions and participate in cross‑team meetings and workshops.
Required profile
- PhD in social sciences, human geography, interdisciplinary environmental sciences, STS, sustainability transformations, or a related field.
- Strong interest in climate extremes, mitigation, and adaptation.
- Experience working in large interdisciplinary consortia and applying interdisciplinary concepts, methods, and tools.
- Panoptic perspective with the ability to engage diverse theories and epistemologies.
- High social and emotional intelligence and motivation for community building.

- Fixed‑term contract until 30 April 2030, with possible extensions (2 × 4 years).
