Semiconductor Shift Maintenance Engineer / Technician – Diffusion

About the role

As a Diffusion Maintenance Engineer or Technician you will ensure maximum uptime of semiconductor production tools by performing corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance on diffusion equipment. You will work in shifts and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive safety, productivity and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively maintain and troubleshoot diffusion ovens (e.g., ASM, centrotherm) to achieve high equipment availability.
• Apply 6S methodology and safety practices while performing maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with maintenance, process and production teams to meet performance targets and optimise line efficiency.
• Participate in tool upgrades, modernisation projects and equipment performance improvement initiatives.
• Document maintenance actions, equipment status and system performance accurately.
• Support root‑cause analysis and problem resolution for technical issues.
• Train and mentor colleagues on diffusion safety and best maintenance practices.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with semiconductor production tool maintenance.
• Solid understanding of electronics, mechanics and pneumatics.
• Familiarity with diffusion systems and related metrology tools.
• Technical vocational training (e.g., Automation Technician, Electronics Technician).
• Willingness to work in shifts and strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Proficiency in English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Maintenance of diffusion equipment (ASM, centrotherm ovens).
• Metrology tools such as Surfscan and Semilab WT‑2000.
• Electronics, mechanics and pneumatics knowledge.
• Vacuum system expertise (optional but beneficial).
• Technical vocational training in automation or electronics.
