Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join Cobelfret’s finance and accounting team in Switzerland. You will be responsible for the accounting of the group and its subsidiaries, ensuring accurate records, timely closings and compliance with Swiss accounting standards in a global dry‑bulk shipping environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle for the company and its subsidiaries, including analytical and multi‑currency accounting.
• Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations and integrate operating accounts into the general ledger.
• Prepare annual closings and statutory financial statements in accordance with Swiss GAAP and the Swiss Code of Obligations.
• Produce periodic internal financial reports and support management with accurate financial information.
• Prepare VAT returns, ensure tax compliance and support external tax audits.
• Act as the main contact for external auditors and support the annual audit process.
• Maintain accurate financial data in the ERP system and support supplier payments, payables and receivables.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc finance and shipping‑related accounting projects.

Required profile

• Solid experience in accounting, preferably within the shipping industry.
• Good knowledge of Swiss accounting standards, Swiss GAAP and the Swiss Code of Obligations.
• Experience with multi‑currency accounting and statutory financial statements.
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Fluent English; French is an asset.
