Senior Backend Developer – System Architecture

About the role

Pixel Plus AG is seeking a Senior Backend Developer with strong system‑architecture expertise to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services for a variety of platform, startup, and enterprise projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust, secure, and high‑performance backend systems using modern technologies.
• Define and implement system architectures that meet business and technical requirements, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Design, build, and optimise RESTful and GraphQL APIs for seamless integration across services.
• Create and optimise relational and non‑relational database schemas, write efficient queries, and ensure data integrity.
• Architect solutions that handle high traffic, large data volumes, and distributed computing workloads.
• Apply security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Design and implement microservices and event‑driven architectures using message brokers.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders; produce clear documentation.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and support CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend development experience with a focus on system architecture.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Proficiency in TypeScript (NestJS) and/or PHP (Laravel).
• Strong knowledge of API development (REST, GraphQL) and database systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Memcached).
• Experience designing and maintaining microservices and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of authentication/authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, OpenID Connect).
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and strong communication skills for a distributed team.
