Senior Commercial Tendering Specialist (Substation Automation)

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Senior Commercial Tendering Specialist (80-100%, full time) in Baden, Aargau, Switzerland. You will lead large and complex international tenders in substation automation, control and protection, working with sales engineers, technical tendering specialists and support functions to prepare bids and drive management approvals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercially large and complex tenders in Substation Automation Systems, Control and Protection within Hub Europe
• Act as tender lead and coordinator with stakeholders to evaluate commercial aspects, costs and risks together with the technical tendering team and support functions such as legal, supply chain, tax, trade compliance, treasury and finance control
• Prepare complex commercial tendering documentation and cost calculations, including financial consolidations and cash flows
• Evaluate the best project setup, scope of delivery and suitable terms and conditions, and support Sales Managers up to contract negotiations
• Work closely with Technical Bid Managers on all technical matters
• Support growth initiatives, run lessons learned reviews and give regular feedback and productivity insights to management

Required profile

• At least 5 years' experience in sales support, tender management or project management of international/export projects, ideally in substation automation, control and protection or high-voltage substations, preferably for an international OEM
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
• Process-oriented, strategic mindset and risk management ability, proactive and structured approach
• Ability to work in multi-cultural and virtual teams
• Fluent English; German, French or Spanish is a plus

Required skills

• General understanding of tender commercial aspects (legal, tax, credit risk management, export control)
• Understanding of site worker assignments overseas, secondments or payroll transfers is a plus
