Senior Java Engineer – HPC Cluster Development & Maintenance

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for a senior Java engineer to develop and maintain a high‑performance computing (HPC) cluster that powers its modern trading floor. The cluster runs on‑premises and is extended with Microsoft Azure, requiring robust scheduling, monitoring and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Future‑proof and maintain Java‑based cluster scheduling and control systems built on Apache Ignite.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of mission‑critical HPC resources across on‑prem and Azure environments.
• Maintain and enhance monitoring solutions for infrastructure and client job submissions using MongoDB and Elastic/Kibana.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to balance resource allocation with business requirements.

Required profile

• Strong multithreaded Java development experience (core and enterprise level).
• Hands‑on experience with distributed execution engines, ActiveMQ messaging and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Azure Portal, Azure SDK for Java and Red Hat Linux.
• Understanding of banking systems and regulatory requirements.
