Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel will provide expert advice and oversight on banking, finance, corporate and commercial legal matters. This role supports regional initiatives and ensures legal compliance across a multinational environment. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and manage external counsel where required.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate banking facilities and other financial arrangements with financial institutions.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including procurement contracts, while advising on legal and business implications.
• Structure, document and implement intra‑company transactions such as capital increases, dividend distributions and internal reorganisations.
• Oversee execution of regional projects, including mergers and acquisitions and restructuring initiatives.
• Instruct and manage external counsel, controlling scope and budget in line with project requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum of 8 years post‑qualification experience, ideally in multinational law firms or corporate legal departments.
• Proven expertise in banking law, corporate law and commercial law.
• Demonstrable expertise in a common‑law legal system.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written; additional languages are a plus.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively, taking full ownership of decisions and outcomes.
• Willingness to travel when needed.
