Senior Legal Officer

About the role

Swissquote is looking for a Senior Legal Officer to join its Legal Department. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the bank’s interests across complex litigation, contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance, while supporting innovative banking services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex litigation and complaints, from strategy formulation to oversight of external counsel and court representation.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate contracts and documentation, especially those related to securities trading.
• Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on projects, new technologies, and innovative banking services, offering risk‑based, business‑oriented solutions.
• Conduct legal research on banking and financial law, monitor regulatory changes, and advise on compliance.
• Own the drafting, implementation, and review of internal policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Swiss Law and successful completion of the Swiss bar exam.
• At least 5 years of experience in the financial services sector, a Big 4 firm, or a law firm focusing on commercial and banking law.
• Proven track record handling complex and sensitive banking or commercial matters.
• Fluent in English and French; working knowledge of German is a plus.

• Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities, particularly for securities trading.
• In‑depth knowledge of banking and finance legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to conduct thorough legal research and produce clear, actionable advice.
