Senior Manager, Communications & Impact Lead

About the role

The Senior Manager, Communications & Impact Lead drives McDonald’s impact agenda in Switzerland, integrating external communications, government relations, internal messaging, franchisee engagement and sustainability. Reporting to the Swiss Leadership Team, the role safeguards brand reputation, ensures regulatory readiness and builds stakeholder trust.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a 1‑3 year impact strategy aligned with business priorities and global frameworks.
• Define KPIs, reporting mechanisms and monitor progress.
• Lead the Impact team (2 direct reports + 1 joint line) and manage agency partners, budget and talent development.
• Act as the official spokesperson, overseeing media relations, brand PR and employer branding.
• Design internal communication programmes, town‑halls and leadership updates for employees and franchisees.
• Partner with Development and Franchising functions to support store openings and attract high‑calibre franchisees.
• Oversee sustainability, social impact programmes and related reporting.
• Build relationships with policymakers, regulators, NGOs and lead advocacy and issues‑management initiatives.
• Plan and execute crisis communication responses.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in communications, public affairs or related fields.
• Strong strategic thinking with ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across government, media and internal audiences.
• Leadership experience managing teams and external agencies.
• Track record of handling reputation, sustainability and crisis communications.
