Senior Manager, River Destinations Experience

About the role

Explora Journeys is seeking a senior professional to own and evolve the portfolio of river destination experiences across its new river cruise offering. Based in Geneva, you will shape the product from concept to operation, ensuring a distinctive luxury experience for guests.

Key responsibilities

• End‑to‑end ownership of all river destination experiences, land programs and signature shoreside products.
• Solicit, evaluate and procure tour operators (TOs) and destination management companies (DMCs) through bidding, comparative study and selection.
• Influence itinerary development, including port selection and narrative creation, and secure executive approval.
• Develop new destination experiences, manage product creation, knowledge transfer and system setup.
• Drive financial performance of the portfolio in partnership with revenue management and marketing.
• Coordinate with digital, marketing, IT and other departments to publish experiences in systems such as Seaware, Otalio, PIM and Crunchtime.
• Lead copywriting, image selection and content creation for destination products.
• Manage contracting, manuals and training for TOs/DMCs and onboard teams.
• Support HR hiring processes and provide expertise for onboard team inquiries.
• Conduct competitive analysis and monitor guest experience trends to recommend product adjustments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with extensive tourism or cruise industry experience.
• Minimum 10 years of shore‑based experience for a luxury river cruise company.

Required skills

• Strong multitasking ability and capacity to handle last‑minute demands.
• Excellent negotiation and financial management skills.
• Leadership capability to motivate and manage staff.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
• Familiarity with systems such as Seaware, Versonix, Otalio and Crunchtime.
