Senior Plastic Design Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Plastic Design Engineer, you will lead the development of high‑precision plastic consumables and mechanical components, taking innovative liquid handling tools from early ideation through to series production.

Key responsibilities

• Design individual components and assemblies, guiding them from initial concept through production launch.
• Develop mechanical plastic solutions for liquid handling products, focusing on consumables and injection molding, and integrate them into larger systems.
• Plan and design plastic components from ideation to series production, providing expert support in materials, tooling, and manufacturing technologies.
• Optimize and simulate injection‑molded parts and manufacturing processes.
• Create detailed manufacturing documentation, including engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
• Source materials and procure components for functional prototypes.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, suppliers, and service providers.

Required profile

• Technical studies (University of Applied Sciences / Fachhochschule) or Certified Technician in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on plastics technology, or vocational training with extensive practical experience.
• Several years of professional experience as a development engineer in plastics.
• Strong, hands‑on expertise in the development of injection‑molded parts and tool design.
• Proficient 3D CAD skills, ideally with SolidWorks.
• German (C1) and English (B2–C1) language proficiency.
• Hands‑on mentality with enthusiasm for creative solutions and innovative products.
