Senior Research Fellow – Indigenous Focus

About the role

The Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement at UNSW is seeking a Senior Research Fellow to lead quantitative research within the Yuwaya Ngarra-li partnership with the Dharriwaa Elders Group. The role focuses on the Walgett Children and Young People Linked Administrative Dataset, supporting community‑led research that informs policy for Aboriginal children and young people.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent quantitative research on education, health and criminal justice outcomes.
• Manage, analyse and report on the linked administrative dataset.
• Produce high‑quality publications and contribute to a growing evidence base.
• Provide expert advice on data linkage and quantitative analysis to the research team.
• Collaborate closely with the Dharriwaa Elders Group and the Yuwaya Ngarra-li team.
• Potentially supervise junior staff as the role evolves.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in quantitative research and data analysis.
• Demonstrated expertise in community‑led, place‑based linked data projects.
• Understanding of Indigenous Data Governance and criminology.
• Ability to work collaboratively with academic and community partners.
• Commitment to advancing equity for Aboriginal children and young people.
