Senior Staff Digital Design Engineer

About the role

Semtech is seeking a Senior Staff Digital Design Engineer to lead the design and development of digital subsystems within complex mixed‑signal ICs. You will work in a collaborative environment focused on next‑generation LoRa and LoRaWAN system architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement digital subsystems, including CPU‑based architectures, FSMs, interconnects, and peripherals such as I2C, SPI, and analog controls.
• Define and architect digital system blocks, contributing to system‑level design decisions and trade‑offs.
• Collaborate with analog design teams to define interfaces and ensure seamless mixed‑signal integration.
• Debug and analyse RTL and verification issues, driving resolution.
• Support block‑level and chip‑level verification activities and contribute to lab validation and product qualification.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in digital IC design, preferably in mixed‑signal environments.
• Strong knowledge of digital IC development, timing closure, and low‑power design techniques.

Required skills

• SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL programming.
• Scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Perl.
• Experience with EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens).
• Understanding of verification methodologies (UVM/OVM, formal verification).
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces (I2C, I3C, SPI, MIPI).
• Experience with MCU architectures (ARM, RISC‑V, STM32) and FPGA design.
• Version control tools such as Git.
