Senior System Engineer

About the role

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for designing, building, operating and continuously improving Rieter's global IT infrastructure, focusing on server, storage, SAN, virtualization and Active Directory technologies. The role ensures secure, stable and scalable services for the company's worldwide operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain physical and virtual server platforms, storage systems and SAN infrastructure in on‑premise data centres.
• Plan and execute hardware lifecycle activities such as technology refreshes, firmware updates, capacity planning and end‑of‑life replacements.
• Provide second‑ and third‑level support for Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory and related services.
• Automate recurring operational tasks using PowerShell scripting.
• Collaborate with global IT teams, local IT organisations and external vendors to ensure reliable infrastructure services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or HF degree in Computer Engineering, IT, Systems Engineering or a related field.
• 7‑10 years of professional experience in IT system engineering or operations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Enterprise server infrastructure, virtualization platforms (VMware) and management tools.
• Storage and SAN technologies, including troubleshooting and capacity planning.
• Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP.
• PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Infrastructure security concepts such as server hardening, patching and privileged access.
• Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity and Conditional Access.
