Social Media Intern

About the role

The United Nations Information Service in Geneva is seeking a Social Media Intern to support its Press and External Relations Section. This six‑month unpaid internship offers hands‑on experience in creating and curating content for UN communication channels.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, create and curate daily social media content using UNIS Trello boards and maintain weekly editorial calendars.
• Draft and schedule posts for X, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, and monitor trends and partner content for reposting.
• Edit and subtitle news videos with Adobe Premiere Pro and produce visuals, quote cards and other graphics using Canva or Adobe Photoshop.
• Attend press conferences, UN events and human‑rights meetings to capture quotes, photos and short videos for social media.
• Conduct weekly and monthly analyses of @UNGeneva social media performance and contribute to daily media monitoring of Swiss newspapers.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed the final year of a bachelor’s programme, or a master’s/Ph.D. programme.
• Fluent written and spoken English; knowledge of French, Italian or German is an advantage.

Required skills

• Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing and subtitling.
• Canva or Adobe Photoshop for creating graphics and quote cards.
