About the role

The Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) is looking for a Software Developer to join its IT team in Geneva. You will be the primary technical contact for Cellosaurus, the internationally used cell‑line knowledge resource, and will also contribute to a range of back‑end services and applications across SIB’s portfolio.

Key responsibilities

Develop, operate and maintain the Cellosaurus website, REST APIs and semantic web services.
Create data‑management and validation tools to ensure research data quality.
Participate in software architecture decisions and act as the main liaison for Cellosaurus stakeholders.
Provide end‑user support and maintain documentation for both users and developers.
Collaborate with the IT team and scientific groups to share best practices and knowledge.

Required profile

Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
Strong background in Python for back‑end services and data processing.
Experience working on Linux servers and with relational databases (MySQL/MariaDB).
Ability to work onsite in Geneva with occasional presence in Lausanne.
