Software Developer – Cellosaurus (Geneva)

About the role
The Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) is looking for a Software Developer to join its IT team in Geneva. You will be the primary technical contact for Cellosaurus, the internationally used cell‑line knowledge resource, and will also contribute to a range of back‑end services and applications across SIB’s portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, operate and maintain the Cellosaurus website, REST APIs and semantic web services.
- Create data‑management and validation tools to ensure research data quality.
- Participate in software architecture decisions and act as the main liaison for Cellosaurus stakeholders.
- Provide end‑user support and maintain documentation for both users and developers.
- Collaborate with the IT team and scientific groups to share best practices and knowledge.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong background in Python for back‑end services and data processing.
- Experience working on Linux servers and with relational databases (MySQL/MariaDB).
- Ability to work onsite in Geneva with occasional presence in Lausanne.
