Software Engineer III, Commerce Actor Safety, Intelligence

About the role

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Commerce Actor Safety team. You will work on the end‑to‑end development of abuse intelligence systems, including detection models, agents, and moderation platforms that protect users and merchants.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and engineering leads to define and execute actor safety strategies, blending abuse prevention frameworks with targeted protections.
• Analyze abuse patterns and precision/recall metrics to continuously improve AI models, detection systems, and operational workflows.
• Design, train, deploy, and iterate on ML models such as Gemini LLMs, graph neural networks, and NLP architectures to detect spam, fraud, and abusive behavior.
• Build data pipelines for training data curation, active learning, synthetic datasets, and model evaluation frameworks.
• Develop high‑throughput, resilient back‑end services and maintain the intelligence platform that manages models throughout their lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience (or advanced degree with reduced experience requirement).
• At least 2 years of software development experience in Python or similar languages.
• 2 years of experience in machine learning development and ML infrastructure, including model deployment and evaluation.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL queries.
