Staff Backend Engineer - Core Product

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join our Core Product team in Switzerland. You will design and scale backend infrastructure that powers AI‑driven decision‑making workflows, handling fragmented high‑value datasets with precision and reliability. Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems, services, and APIs supporting core product functionality.
• Build robust data pipelines and workflows to improve data quality, system intelligence, and operational performance.
• Contribute to architecture decisions with emphasis on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate complex requirements into production‑ready solutions.
• Develop and optimise asynchronous, cloud‑native backend services in distributed environments.
• Enhance observability, debugging, testing, and monitoring across backend systems.
• Drive experimentation, iteration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in backend development.
• Strong expertise in designing scalable systems and APIs in cloud‑based environments.
• Proven ability to debug complex systems and deliver high‑quality production code.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.
• Experience thriving in high‑ownership, fast‑paced environments with minimal supervision.
