Staff Development Unit Intern

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a motivated intern to join its Staff Development Unit in Geneva. The internship lasts six months and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the UN's learning and capacity‑building agenda while gaining hands‑on experience in human‑rights‑focused staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparing, and coordinating training courses, workshops, seminars, webinars and other learning activities.
• Support the development, editing and formatting of training materials, reports and communications.
• Contribute to e‑learning and blended‑learning initiatives, including content design and platform support.
• Help conduct learning needs assessments and evaluate training outcomes.
• Research staff‑development trends, best practices and emerging tools.
• Facilitate coordination with internal and external learning partners.
• Undertake any related tasks under the supervision of the Head of the Staff Development Unit.

Required profile

• Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s programme or in a Master’s (or higher) programme, preferably in human‑resources management, business/public administration, social sciences, education or a related field.
• Strong academic record and interest in human‑rights, learning and development.
• Fluency in English; French is an asset. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
